How To Clean Silicone Molds For Resin

Using silicone molds to brand resin crafts? Awesome. You can use them to brand an artsy chess set or terrazzo earrings. At present that y'all've invested in resin silicone molds, y'all want to make sure they last. Caring for your molds isn't tricky, merely I do see artists making mistakes when information technology comes to silicone mold care.  Here are the pitfalls you need to avoid:

Fault #1: Not storing your molds in a unmarried, flat layer.

Stacking them in a pile will crusade them to bend and buckle. Once a silicone mold warps, it won't go flat again.

💡 Pro tip: To create more space within a box, place a slice of cardboard on pinnacle of a layer of molds to create a new layer. So, evenly distribute the molds on the adjacent layer.

Mistake #2: Skipping the mold release

Resin mold release makes it easier to demold resin. Plus, information technology prolongs the life of your mold. It protects against microtears that cause your molds to rip.

Even when you're conscientious about storing your molds, sometimes they don't stay in shape. If you're not using your silicone mold for a while, intendance for it by placing a casting in it to aid it keep its shape.

You can apply one of your resin mistakes in the mold to help it stay even and formed.

💡 Pro tip: If it's an intricate mold, pour warm candle wax into the mold. It will easily demold later.

Mistake #5: Piercing holes in your mold.
